Maggid's Table Converter allows you to prepare and adjust simple (e.g. HTML, WORD, PDF) 'number' tables for import in spreadsheets (Excel). This is how it works:
- Copy 'table body' (all columns excluding column heads) to the Input Box (right-click in Input Box+paste).
- The first column may contain numbers or multiple words (no combination of words and numbers on the same line!). All other columns can contain only numbers.
- Set the number of columns to the desired 'right' value
- Set the right separator. The standard separator = \t (= [Tab]) and is invisible. Any other character that's not part of the input table, like / or ¿ [=alt gr /], will do as separator and will be temporarely visible.
- If necessary, exchange commas and dots by checking the related box, to get the desired decimal lay out.
- By checking other optional boxes, adjust the table as you like. If you're ready, press Convert.
- Your new table appears in the Output Box. Don't worry if the colums don't look well ordered, that's normal.
- Right-click with your mouse in the outbox field, "select all" and copy the new table.
- Go to your spreadsheet and by means of "Special Paste", the option "unformatted text" and the same (marked) separator as used in the tables, copy the table into your spreadsheet. Ready!
- You can fill in the column heads manually or simply copy them separate into a clean input box, mark check box number 6 and fill the 'old character filed' with a space and 'new character field' with the tab characters : \t (don't use quotes!), press [convert] and copy with 'special paste' the output from the outputbox to your spreadsheet
